Ice Climbing in the Ski Area

The Stubai Valley is a paradise for ice climbers. 20m-high ice climbing tower right in the ski area of the Stubai Glacier, at the Gamsgarten mountain station is perfect for climbing courses for beginners and an excellent training opportunity for the advanced. Use is free of charge. Knowledge of appropriate belaying techniques is a precondition.

First ice climbing experiences can be made top-rope on the ice climbing tower at the Gamsgarten. It is best to book a beginners’ course at the Stubai Alpin mountain guide office.

Ice climbing equipment is available on site. 

Tip for the spontaneous: 

On Fridays from December to March, an introductory climbing session takes place at the Stubai Glacier ice climbing tower from 1:00 p.m. It costs 10 Euros and no prior booking is required.

The crampons can be fixed on ski and snowboard boots.



Introductory climbing courses: every Friday afternoon from 29 December to late March you can test this fascinating sport. Ice climbing equipment is available on site.
