ACTING TOGETHER FOR TOMORROW

Not only are we proud to offer fascinating landscapes and create unforgettable moments, but we are also determined to act responsibly. Careful treatment of nature and the available resources is a matter close to our hearts. We take responsibility for the valley and its people.

Mobile together

We offer our guests attractive options for an environmentally friendly journey. The Stubai ski bus has been providing public transport to the ski area for many years. This saves around 135,000 car journeys every year. The free ski bus runs every 15 minutes between Schönberg and the Stubai Glacier valley station. Line 590 runs from Innsbruck to the Stubai Glacier during the winter season.

Travelling by train can reduce CO2 emissions by 75% - we are cooperating with the ÖBB as part of the Night Jet to the Snow initiative.
Ongoing expansion of charging stations for e-mobility. 20 additional charging facilities have been installed for the 2024/25 winter season.
Shuttle buses for our employees - these car pools replace 114 cars and 95% of our employees use this service.

100% green electricity on the Stubai Glacier

Our cable cars are 100% powered by green electricity, which means that all facilities are operated using electrical energy from renewable sources. This makes our lift operation almost CO2-neutral.

Adjustment of the driving speed can save up to 18% energy.
During the descent of the 3S cable car, energy is regained and fed back into our system.

Energy management at 3,000 metres

Heating systems at the Stubai Glacier are operated with energy from 100% green electricity. The room temperature is controlled by a ventilation system with heat recovery. Energy is extracted from the warm exhaust air and added to the incoming fresh air to warm it up. We are also increasingly switching to LED lighting in our buildings to save energy.

A FUTURE FOR OUR NATURE

More than two thirds of the Stubai Alps are protected. The ski resorts in this region cover around three per cent of the area. There is therefore a good balance between managed areas and protected areas. There are 100 glaciers in the Stubai Alps – five of which make up the Stubai Glacier ski area, the remaining 95 are untouched. The utilisation of glaciers is subject to strict regulations in Austria. Careful treatment is a prerequisite.

During the winter months, terrain conditions and wind are utilised to create snow deposits. Snow from the glacier-free areas and from the flanks is used for the snow depots.
Reservoirs fill up naturally as the snow melts, allowing the water to return to the cycle.
Eisgratbahn im Sommer
Recultivation of natural soils to preserve the original state of nature. Renaturalisation through regular cleaning of the terrain, removal of damage to the terrain, path maintenance and the care and maintenance of the slopes (e.g. by sowing, fertilising, mulching with indigenous and site-appropriate seeds). In this way, we preserve the alpine landscape in summer.

Avoidance makes waste separation easier

Waste management has been a matter of course for us for many years. However, we try to avoid waste in the first place:

Glass bottles instead of PET bottles in the restaurants.
Recyclable disposable crockery instead of plastic.
Order and delivery in bulk and larger quantities.
Regional procurement management at local companies.

Waste separation at all collection points in the area.

In summer, we collect rubbish together on the Stubai Glacier - for example, we walk all the paths and free nature from carelessly discarded rubbish.

It tastes best from home

It is not only the chefs who are responsible for the catering here at the Stubai Glacier, but above all the suppliers from the region. They provide us with regional fruit, vegetables, meat, grain, eggs and much more. It's not just the short delivery routes, but we also support the economic well-being of the region and help to maintain or create jobs.

Impulse for reflection

Getting to the Stubai Glacier

In order to continue to reduce emissions and ensure traffic calming, we are constantly endeavouring to take measures to create and promote alternative travel options. Calculations have shown that travelling by car or even plane is a significant factor in the total CO2 emissions of a holiday. Together with our guests, we can also help to bring about a shift in environmental thinking.
