Snow reliability until May

Thanks to its altitude, the Stubai Glacier ski area is snow reliable until far into springtime.
Even in April and May, you can still enjoy carving turns on the perfectly groomed pistes and experience a real feeling of natural snow.

  • The large and varied offer of slopes and ski routes stretches from the valley bottom at an altitude of approx. 1,700m to an altitude of more than 3,100m on the mountain.
  • Thanks to its size, the ski area with  36 downhill runs and 26 lift facilities provides a varied adventure for beginners and pros alike.

What will be weather be like in April on the Stubai Glacier?

April weather: rain and sunshine both together. One can never tell what the weather will be like on the day you visit the Stubai Glacier. But everything is possible in April: from blue skies and beaming sunshine to spring-like temperature to snowfall.

Why this glacier ski area?

The Stubai Glacier is the largest glacier ski area in Austria. Thanks to its altitude location, it offers pure skiing fun until springtime (ski operation planned until May 11, 2025) .

The Stubai ski pass is a special extra also during your Easter holidays. It is automatically handed-out to everyone buying at least a 4-day ski pass and without any surcharge to the Stubai Glacier ticket. With the Stubai ski pass, you can then enjoy wonderful days of skiing on the Stubai Glacier and in all other open ski areas in the Stubai Valley. Free ski pass for children under 10 years

As a TOP family ski area, it is important to us to offer affordable skiing for the whole family. For more than 20 years, all children up to the age of 10 have been able to ski for free on the Stubai Glacier (if accompanied by a paying parent).

Off-piste winter activities

If the offspring needs a break, we offer plenty of fun & action off the pistes:

  • Pistenbully riding ( from Christmas to Easter on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m., meeting point: ice climbing tower, cost: €4.50 per child)

How many pistes are open on the Stubai Glacier at Easter?
Thanks to its high altitude, the Stubai Glacier is a ski area with guaranteed snow until late spring. Therefore, a wide range of slopes for varied days of skiing awaits you during the Easter holidays.

What will the weather be like at Easter on the Stubai Glacier?
Of course, it's impossible to predict exactly what the weather will be like. It can be spring-like warm at Easter, but snowy days are also not an exception. However, we can guarantee that a perfect sunshine skiing experience awaits you on the many sunny days.

Is there still natural snow on the Stubai Glacier in April?
The Stubai Glacier ski area stretches from 1,700 metres to over 3,000 metres above sea level. It is therefore considered snow-sure. You can enjoy real natural snow slopes until late spring.

How long is the journey to the Stubai Glacier?
The Stubai Glacier ski area is located at the end of the Stubai Valley valley, approx. 45 minutes from the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck. From the valley station, the 3S gondola lift takes you up from 1,700 metres to 3,000 metres in around 12 minutes. Then it's just a case of putting on your skis and off you go.

Can I use public transport to get there?
Many ski buses operate at regular intervals in the entire Stubai Valley – of course also to the valley station of the Stubai Glacier. The ski bus in the Stubai Valley is free of charge. From Innsbruck you can take bus no. 509 which will bring your directly to the Stubai Glacier – to the current VVT schedule.

Is the Stubai Glacier a family-friendly ski area?
With its child-friendly gondola lifts and chairlifts, wide and flat pistes and a large beginners' area, the Stubai Glacier is one of the TOP family ski resorts. In addition, children up to the age of 10 ski for free on the Stubai Glacier (if accompanied by a paying parent).

Are there also demanding pistes on the Stubai Glacier?
The Stubai Glacier offers numerous ski routes as well as red and black pistes for experienced skiers. You will also find varied routes for freeride skiing, that we have compiled in a separate Freeride Map
